Notice of Public Hearing Amended City Wide Urban Revitalization Plan

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING OF THE CITY COUNCIL

OF THE CITY OF FORT MADISON, IOWA, ON THE MATTER OF

THE ADOPTION OF A PROPOSED AMENDED CITY-WIDE URBAN REVITALIZATION PLAN FOR THE CITY-WIDE REVITALIZATION AREA

Public notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Fort Madison, Iowa, will hold a public hearing on September 17, 2024, at 5:30 P.M., in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 811 Avenue E, Fort Madison, Iowa, at which meeting the Council proposes to take action on the adoption of an Amended City-Wide Urban Revitalization Plan ("2024 Amendment") for the City-Wide Revitalization Area ("Urban Revitalization Area" or "Area") described therein, under the authority of Iowa Code Chapter 404.

The purposes of the 2024 Amendment are to: (1) extend the duration of the Plan, (2) add a restriction to the exemption of school district levies for property assessed as residential, (3) add the execution of a minimum assessment agreement as an eligibility requirement for property assessed as commercial, and (4) add an exemption schedule for abandoned property.

Any persons interested may appear at said meeting of the Council and present evidence for or against the adoption of the 2024 Amendment. The proposed 2024 Amendment is on file in the office of the City Clerk and available for public inspection or copying during ordinary business hours.

This notice is given by order of the City Council of the City of Fort Madison, Iowa, pursuant to Iowa Code Section 404.2.
