WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE VICTORIA PARK AMENITIES LOCATED?

Dubbo Regional Council is seeking feedback on the proposed location and the design of a new amenities block in Victoria Park, Dubbo.

Council has secured $403,486 from the NSW Government for the design and construction of the building.

Council is undertaking early consultation with the community asking where they would like to see the amenities block located within the park and what it should look like.

"Dubbo's Victoria Park is used by many residents and visitors and is a real community centre in the city with the updated playground and fitness area attracting people of all ages, but the amenities are out-dated.

"A new amenities block will be more family and disability-friendly for the whole community to use," DRC Manager Recreation and Open Spaces Ian McAlister said.

Two new proposed locations, alongside a third option of keeping the amenities where they are, have been proposed by Council staff based on considerations including location, access to current sewer and water, cost benefits and proximity to other areas of the park.

The consultation also asks residents to comment on the proposed inclusions for the design and fit out of the block, including an ambulant toilet, accessible bathroom, parents' room, and visual appeal.

Residents are encouraged to contribute to the consultation and let Council know what they wanted to see included in the amenities.

"Constructed in 1975 the current amenities block is at its end of life and no longer meets current expectations; we want to work with the community to make sure the new building meets public expectations.

"We will make every effort to align our communities needs with the allocated budget which could also be affected by operational, infrastructural or environmental impacts," Mr McAlister said.

The survey for the Victoria Park Amenities will be open until 29 July.

Following the closure of the survey a report will be presented to Council.
