State Police arrest Howes Cave man for gun possession

On July 17, 2024, State Police of Cobleskill arrested Manuel N. Tosado, 28, of Howes Cave (Schoharie), NY, for four counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the fourth degree, Menacing in the second degree, and Harassment in the second degree.

On July 17, 2024, at about 10:15 p.m., Troopers responded to a home in Howes Cave, NY, for the reports of a dispute involving a weapon. The investigation determined Tosado and the victim were in a dispute when Tosado reportedly displayed a handgun. The victim feared for their safety, fled the location, and contacted 911. Tosado was located in the home where he was taken into custody. Further investigation determined the firearm used during the incident was illegally possessed. In addition, Troopers located a non-compliant long gun and multiple illegal high-capacity magazines. All firearms were seized.

Tosado was transported to SP Cobleskill for processing. On July 18, 2024, Tosado was arraigned at the Schoharie County Centralized Arraignment Part Court and remanded to the Schoharie County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500 cash bail.
