Rep. Grijalva Announces $1.875 Million in Federal Funding for AZ Community Organizations to Help Prevent Veteran Suicide

WASHINGTON - Today, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced $52.5 million in grants, including $1.875 million for Arizona, for community organizations implementing tailored suicide prevention programs and services for Veterans and their families. The Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program is part of VA's National Strategy for Preventing Veteran Suicide and the Biden-Harris Administration's strategy to reduce military and Veteran suicide.

"Our veterans undertake immense personal sacrifice for the security of our nation," said Rep. Grijalva. "It's only fair that when they return home, we give them the care and benefits they are owed. Each effort we make towards prevention is a step towards a future where every veteran finds the hope and help they need."

The recipients and grant funding totals, include:

• Arizona Department of Veterans' Services - $750,000
• National Community Health Partners - $750,000
• US Vets - Arizona - $375,000
