TDOE Announces 2024-25 Tennessee Principal, Supervisor of the Year Finalists

NASHVILLE, TN- Today, the Tennessee Department of Education announced the finalists for the 2024-25 Tennessee Principal of the Year and Supervisor of the Year awards. The finalists represent each of the state's Center of Regional Excellence (CORE) regions, with three finalists in each Grand Division: West, Middle, and East.

"I am thrilled to honor these individuals as finalists for the Tennessee Principal of the Year and Supervisor of the Year awards," said Lizzette Reynolds, Commissioner of Education. "Your exceptional hard work, dedication, and leadership does not go unnoticed, and I am proud that Tennessee has so many principals and district supervisors that are committed to student success."

The Tennessee Principal of the Year award is awarded annually to a school leader for outstanding service in education and exceptional leadership that drives overall improvements in his or her school. To qualify, candidates must have a minimum of three years of experience as a principal and a minimum of five years of experience in Tennessee public schools. In addition, all nominees must have a proven track record of exceptional gains in student learning.

The finalists for 2024-25 Tennessee Principal of the Year are:

Your dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to fostering a positive educational environment have not gone unnoticed," said Tina Francis-Hodges, 2023-24 Tennessee Principal of the Year. "Each of you has demonstrated remarkable resilience, innovation, and an inspiring ability to lead your schools through triumphs and challenges. This recognition is a testament to your hard work and the significant impact you have on your students, staff, and communities."

Each year an outstanding district supervisor is recognized as the Tennessee Supervisor of the Year. To qualify, candidates must demonstrate a record of implementing innovative programs and managing and motivating students and staff. Additionally, the nominees must have a minimum of three years of experience as an administrator and a minimum of five years of experience in Tennessee public schools.

The finalists for 2024-25 Tennessee Supervisor of the Year are:

"Congratulations to each of the Tennessee Supervisor of the Year Finalists! This distinction commends your dedication and unwavering pursuit of educational excellence," said Arlette Robinson, 2023-24 Tennessee Supervisor of the Year. "As you are recognized for your leadership, take this moment to showcase your great work and passion for quality education, and shine. May you be honored and celebrated for your unique gifts, talents, resources, and support you bring to your district and community."

In the coming weeks, the Principal and Supervisor of the Year finalists will proceed to an in-person interview where each will meet with a panel of interviewers made up of department staff and other education leaders. Winners for each Grand Division and the Tennessee Principal and Supervisor of the Year will be selected from this group and announced this fall.
