FDNY Celebrates Annual National Fire Prevention Week at Rockefeller Center

October 9, 2024

The FDNY will celebrate National Fire Prevention Week on Thursday, October 10th at 10 a.m. at Rockefeller Center. The FDNY will swear in more than 300 junior Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). The junior Firefighters and EMTs will pledge an oath designed to remind children to practice fire safety and share it with their family and friends.

Children from schools throughout the five boroughs will participate in the event, where they will also be learning invaluable lessons in fire safety from members of the FDNY Fire Safety Education Unit and the FDNY fire and life safety mascots - Hot Dog and Siren. Additionally, all children will have the opportunity to interact with firefighters and EMTs and view demonstrations by FDNY members.

Annually, the FDNY provides outreach programs to educate New Yorkers by promoting safe fire and life safety practices at thousands of locations and events throughout the five boroughs. For more fire safety education tips, visit www.FDNYSmart.org or search the hashtag #FDNYSmart.
