Two Students Arrested with Weapons at El Camino Fundamental High School

This morning at approximately 9:30 AM, staff at El Camino Fundamental High School found two juvenile male students in possession of weapons. One of them, a 14-year-old, was seen showing other students what appeared to be a handgun in his waistband. Another student, a 15-year-old, had two knives. Deputies arrived on scene and detained both students without incident.

The gun was discovered to be an airsoft pistol with the orange tip removed. The 14-year-old student with the airsoft gun was transported to Juvenile Hall.

The other 15-year-old student was found to be in possession of two pocket knives. He was subsequently cited and released to his parents.

While both students knew each other, they did not appear to have collaborated, and there was no plan or plot for violence.
