Commissioner Spencer R. Moore and the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) Hosts International Trade Association Conference-First Time in Association’s 91 Year History

Last week, Georgia became the focal point of identity management and highway safety as Commissioner Spencer R. Moore and the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) hosted approximately 1,200 attendees from licensing, motor vehicle, and law enforcement agencies from around the globe at the Annual American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) International Conference. AAMVA is a recognized national leading authority for driver and vehicle licensing, administration and related enforcement.

Commissioner Moore has served as Chair of the AAMVA Board over the past year, a first for our state. Moore's chairmanship came with an opportunity for the State of Georgia to host the Annual International Conference (AIC) for the first time ever. AIC is AAMVA's premier event for jurisdictions, industry, and federal partners to come together to share experiences and learn new trends and emerging technology. The attendees convened in Atlanta for three days of engaging sessions and interesting events to discuss major issues affecting driver services and highway safety as well as to formulate potential solutions.

Commissioner Moore commented, "It has been an honor to serve as AAMVA International Board Chair and the highlight was hosting this prestigious event in the great State of Georgia. AIC is a unique educational and networking opportunity to share the latest innovations and best practices in identity management, highway safety, motor vehicle and public safety, and other services. I am profoundly appreciative to have greeting and words of support from Governor Brian P. Kemp, Mayor Andre Dickens, Colonel William Hitchens III. I am proud to say that AIC was a great success!"

In addition to presentations and networking opportunities, DDS provided an on-site tour of the newly renovated Atlanta DDS Customer Service Center (CSC). The modern expansion incorporates the latest in customer service technology including four customer service kiosks and the ability to complete check-in using Georgia's Digital Driver's License or ID.

This year's AIC broke the association's attendance record by having almost 1,200 registrants and the largest charitable contribution donation with an impressive donation of over $25,000, which was collected during the conference for Atlanta's Shepherd Center. The Shepherd Center is a private not for profit hospital specializing in medical treatment, research, rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injury, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, spine, and other neuromuscular conditions.
