Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Hosts a Stellar 48th Annual Gala and Hispanic Business Hall of Fame

Washington, D.C. - The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) hosted its 48th Annual Gala and Hispanic Business Hall of Fame on Saturday, November 9th, 2024, at the JW Marriott Washington, DC. The sold-out event brought together over 500 business and community leaders to celebrate the resilience, innovation, and impact of Hispanic businesses in the Greater Washington region.

This year's theme, "Winter Wonderland," created a magical atmosphere for an evening filled with networking, entertainment, and recognition of outstanding contributions to the Hispanic business community. The event was emceed by Alberto Pimienta, Anchor for Telemundo44, and Susan Hogan, NBC4 Consumer Investigative Reporter.

Honoring Excellence

During the gala, the Chamber recognized remarkable leaders and organizations with prestigious awards:

  • Legacy Award: Jay Haddock and Héctor Torres for their lifelong contributions to the Hispanic business community.
  • Young Hispanic Entrepreneurs of the Year: Aris and Raymond Compres, co-founders of Los Hermanos Dominican Restaurant, for their entrepreneurial success and innovation.
  • Small Business Champion of the Year: Rocio Treminio-Lopez for her dedication to empowering small businesses.
  • Small Business of the Year: Arlington Economic Development for driving economic growth and supporting small businesses.
  • Corporate Community Anchor Award: Kaiser Permanente for its outstanding commitment to the Hispanic community.

Special Recognition by Comcast NBCUniversal

Comcast NBCUniversal's Project UP celebrated four incredible organizations-Latin American Youth Center, Tenants & Workers United, Latino Economic Development Center, and the GWHCC Foundation-by donating laptops to support their missions. Over the coming week, Comcast, Telemundo44, and NBC4 will personally deliver laptops to each organization.
