Fontana Announces Over $300K for Security Upgrades at Allegheny County Nonprofits

Allegheny County - October 18, 2024 - Today, Senator Wayne Fontana announced a total of $319,069 in Nonprofit Security Grants from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) were awarded to two organizations in the 42^nd Senatorial district.

"The safety of our fellow citizens is a responsibility we all share," said Sen. Fontana. "I am proud to support these PCCD grants for security enhancements at the very places where we focus on serving others."

The Nonprofit Security Grant Program was established by the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 2019 in response to the Tree of Life synagogue shooting.

Community organizations who received funding include:

• ACH Clear Pathways - $19,410
• Beth El Congregation of the South Hills - $37,600
• Brown Chapel AME Church - $25,000
• Chabad Lubavitch of the South Hills - $25,000
• City of Bridges Foundation - $25,000
• Holy Family Institute - $65,414
• Legacy Community Options for All People - $25,000
• Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania - $71,645
• Temple Emanuel of South Hills - $25,000

Nonprofit Security Grants are intended to fund security enhancements for nonprofit organizations who principally serve individuals, groups, or institutions that could be targeted for hate crimes, as identified by the FBI's Hate Crime Statistics Publication.
