Chicago, IL - Northwestern University's American Music Theatre Project (AMTP) and Teatro Vista Productions (TVP) present a one-night-only, free concert event featuring Mexican musical sensation Jaime Lozano. "Jamie Lozano & The Familia: Songs by an Immigrant" takes place on Monday, Oct 14 at Wirtz Center Chicago located inside Abbott Hall, 710 N. Lake Shore Drive on Northwestern's Chicago campus.

The concert features selections from Lozano's critically acclaimed albums "Songs by an Immigrant" and "Songs by an Immigrant Vol. 2." Lozano's work explores themes of identity, belonging and the immigrant journey.

Members of Northwestern's theatre program and ensemble members of Teatro Vista Productions will join Lozano on stage for songs that reflect the triumphs and challenges of the immigrant experience - from learning a new language and dealing with discrimination to pursuing the American Dream. Lozano's work offers an honest and heartfelt portrayal of life in the United States as a first- or second-generation immigrant.

About Jaime Lozano
Jaime Lozano is a Mexican multi-hyphenate musical theatre storyteller considered by Lin-Manuel Miranda as the "next big thing" on Broadway. His project "Jaime Lozano & The Familia" has performed sold out concerts at prestigious venues such as Joe's Pub, 54 Below, The Green Room 42, Two River Theater, and more recently as part of the prestigious Lincoln Center's American Songbook Series. His anticipated new album "Songs by an Immigrant Vol. 2" was released by Grammy Award winner label Concord Theatrical Recordings. Lozano is currently working on "Broadway en Spanglish" album, Roja, Desaparecidas and Frida, The Musical. He is part of the faculty of The New School and Berklee NYC. He is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild of America, AFM Local 802, BMI and GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY voting member.

Teatro Vista Productions (TVP) is a non-profit multimedia theater company dedicated to multidisciplinary artists of color whose artistic expression on stage and beyond is rooted in the transformative power of telling and owning our own stories.
