Welcome back, Terriers! August was a busy month (no dog days at BU). In addition to hosting a number of programs for local high school students, BU welcomed an estimated 11,000 new and returning students to campus during the annual Move-in. In late August, this year's First-Year Outreach Project (FYSOP) students volunteered at a local elementary school, and Student Activities annual Weeks of Welcome events took off with a bang.

The annual Cradles to Crayons Backpack-A-Thon, held at Agganis Arena August 1, drew hundreds of volunteers, including Melissa Graves, BU women's basketball team head coach, to help provide 75,000 Massachusetts area students with new school supplies.

Eligible high school students in the program earn up to eight college credits. In addition to a challenging course load, students visited Fenway Park and the New England Aquarium.

Boston Public School high schoolers participated in this summer's Brighter Boston summer camp at BU's Joan & Edgar Booth Theatre. The program provides hands-on technical training in lighting, audio, video, and set construction, then places students in internships and jobs in backstage tech with Boston theaters, concert halls, and other venues.
