REP. CORREA ANNOUNCES $850,000 FOR STATE-OF-THE-ART CAREER TRAINING FOR LOCAL STUDENTS

Built In Part With Federal Tax Dollars, Santa Ana College's New Facilities Will Prepare Students With Industry-Standard Equipment And Skill Development

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Yesterday, Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) joined Santa Ana College President Dr. Annebelle Nery, Rancho Santiago Community College District Chancellor Marvin Martinez, and other officials at Santa Ana College's 3rd Annual Family Night to announce $850,000 in federal taxpayer dollars to help retrofit and renovate the College's career training facilities to meet industry standards for occupational training programs.

Santa Ana College's adult education programs are currently preparing over 19,000 students to secure jobs and find success in a variety of high-paying, competitive, and in-demand fields. As class sizes grow and industry practices evolve, classrooms and lab spaces must be able to support equipment and technology that provides learning opportunities commensurate with on-the-job expectations. These federal funds will support renovations that will benefit students studying in the Automotive, Culinary Arts, Construction, and Welding programs with simulated work environments, industry-standard equipment, and state-of-the-art facilities.

"All across America and Orange County, we're bringing back manufacturing jobs for high-tech industries like microchips. It's no secret: our well-trained workforce will become the backbone of the future, high-tech American economy," Rep. Correa said. "I'm proud to be bringing back taxpayer dollars so that Santa Ana College can help train and prepare tomorrow's workforce, right here at home. Our community is full of folks ready to work hard-and these investments in technology for career training will give them the tools for success, lead our nation's manufacturing renaissance, and keep our American Dream alive."

"We are so thankful to Congressman Correa for his tremendous support of Santa Ana College. The funds provided will help us continue to offer the best career and technical education programs in the nation," Dr. Nery said. "Santa Ana College is the fastest growing community college in California and so these funds are desperately needed to keep up with the strong demand for our programs and services."

This $850,000 in federal funding is part of the nearly $15 million that Rep. Correa secured for community projects throughout California's 46th congressional district in the Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24) omnibus appropriations bill, which President Joe Biden signed into law this year. Rep. Correa worked in lockstep with community leaders to identify priorities for CA-46 constituents, and fought for them during the annual funding process.
