Phillippe Park, Weedon Island Preserve to reopen Saturday

Philippe Park in Safety Harbor and Weedon Island Preserve in St. Petersburg will reopen Saturday, Oct. 5. The parks have been undergoing cleanup and restoration from Hurricane Helene.

Additionally, the Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center will reopen Thursday, Oct. 10, and Lake Seminole Park will tentatively reopen Oct. 28.

Here are additional updates from Pinellas County Parks & Conservation Resources. Parks and facilities not listed below have reopened.


Parks that remain CLOSED due to extensive damage:

  • Fort De Soto Park (2024 camping and shelter reservations are suspended)
  • Fred Howard Park and Causeway
  • Sand Key Park
  • Wall Springs Park
  • War Veterans Park
  • All county beach access locations

Saltwater boat ramps

  • Belleair Causeway Boat Ramp: open (fishing pier closed; concessions suspended)
  • Sutherland Bayou Boat Ramp: open
  • Park Boulevard: open
  • Philippe Park: reopens Saturday, Oct. 5
  • Fort De Soto Park: closed
  • War Veterans' Memorial Park: closed

Freshwater boat ramps

  • AL. Anderson Park: open
  • John S. Taylor Park: open
  • John Chesnut Sr. Park: open
  • Lake Seminole Park: closed
  • Walsingham Park: closed
