Gilmer Street closures planned starting Wednesday, Sept. 18

The City of Killeen Department of Engineering will be closing additional sections of Gilmer Street starting Wednesday, Sept. 18 through Friday, Sept. 20, as part of the Gilmer Street Reconstruction, to adjust the existing sewer connections.

The Gilmer Street closure schedule is:

• Wednesday, Sept. 18, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.: West Avenue D to 306 North Gilmer Street
• Thursday, Sept. 19, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Norris Avenue to West Avenue D
• Friday, Sept. 20, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.: 761^st Tank Battalion Avenue to Norris Avenue

The work includes the excavation, removal and installation of a new sewer line.

The contractor will have a traffic control plan in place and will detour traffic around the work area. Motorists should anticipate delays and are asked to use caution and obey traffic control devices.
