Packaging progress: 3 ways we’re making recycling easier

Check out three improvements we made to our packaging this year.

1. Our snack multipacks now come in paperboard boxes.

What we did: Our single serve snack bags used to be packaged in a plastic bag that required special plastic film recycling-now they come in paper cartons.

Why it matters: This makes recycling easier because you can simply put the box out on the curb for municipal recycling.

2. 100% of our eligible packaging* now has a How2Recycle label.

What we did: In 2017, we began including the How2Recycle label on our packaging to help you determine the best way to recycle.

Why it matters: By the end of fiscal 2023, 100% of eligible packaging included a How2Recycle label, helping to provide clear directions as to what's recyclable and what's not.

*The How2Recycle (H2R) program is active only in the U.S. and Canada. In-eligible packaging is less than 1% of all packaging and includes packaging where there is not an H2R tile, items that are too small to fit the label or do not have any printing on them. Products without the label may appear in stores until current inventories of product and packaging materials are depleted.

3. We made our 12. oz. V8 bottle recyclable.

What we did: Previously, our 12 oz. V8 bottles weren't recyclable unless the label was removed before collection. This year, we introduced a full-wrap label that can be removed during the recycling process at the facility.

Why it matters: This change eliminates the extra step for you. Approximately 800,000 lbs. of plastic, or roughly 11 million bottles, can now more easily be recycled each year!

These packaging modifications show that a small change can have a big impact on our environmental footprint.
