CDPH Lead Poisoning Prevention Conference
CDPH's Lead Poisoning Prevention and Healthy Homes program will gather renowned experts in lead abatement, public health, and healthy housing together on Tuesday, September 24 at the Lead Poisoning Prevention Conference. The all-day (8:30am- 4pm) conference will be held at Malcolm X College, 1900 W. Jackson Blvd.
This year's conference, under the theme, "Safe Spaces: Creating A Lead Free & Healthy Home Environment for All," aims to make attendees more familiar with the CDPH Lead Poisoning Prevention and Healthy Homes program, emphasizing a holistic healthy home approach. This will be an interactive event featuring speakers, panels, workshops and educational exhibits. It's open to the public, including community partners, health professionals, educational institutions, and government agencies.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage with leading professionals, learn about the latest research, and gain practical skills to implement in their own communities. The conference is meant to inspire and encourage participants to take concrete steps toward lead-free homes and holistic health for our communities, in addition to facilitating connections among stakeholders to foster collaboration and community-driven solutions.

CDPH / Park District Teen Anti-Vaping Events
CDPH's 'Break Up Snack Shop' brought an engaging experience to Chicago teens, encouraging them to break up with nicotine (or 'Nic'). Featured on Friday, 9/6 at Go Grind Friday Nights at Grant Park and on Saturday, 9/7 at TIP Fest at Northerly Island, both in partnership with the Chicago Park District, the pop-up urged participants to pledge to live a vape-free lifestyle and provided them with facts and resources surrounding cessation. Attendees enjoyed a customizable popcorn bar, offering a variety of seasonings in a nod to the diverse flavors used by vape products, along with a gamified prize system that rewarded them for their breakup with 'Nic'.
In addition to pledging to live a vape-free life, teens could also apply for a scholarship, get branded swag, and follow CDPH teen partner content creators on TikTok and Instagram.
