SKILLMAN, N.J.September 25, 2024 -Kenvue Inc. (NYSE: KVUE) ("Kenvue" or the "Company"), the maker of iconic brands such as Aveeno®, Listerine®, Neutrogena® and Tylenol®, will make its debut and showcase its commitment to advancing everyday skin care science and hair care solutions by presenting new data at the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Congress in Amsterdam September 25-28.

Kenvue seamlessly brings together next-generation science and collaborators with world-class dermatologists to deliver high-performance products for healthy skin. Kenvue is introducing exciting new data from two iconic brands in the Kenvue family, Aveeno® and Neutrogena®.

"Our strong collaboration with the healthcare community is central to our success and brings together science-backed formulas with dermatologists to deliver safe and effective care, creating a profound impact on well-being," said Menas Kizoulis, Senior Director of Global Scientific Engagement and Activation, Kenvue. "We are proud of the scientific contributions and brand support made through these alliances and with more than half a dozen scientific posters accepted to the Congress and conducted by Kenvue scientists, we're exemplifying the power of everyday care with clinically effective dermatological skin and hair care solutions including Aveeno®, Rogaine® and retinol products from our iconic Neutrogena® and Dr.Ci:Labo® brands."

Kenvue will share seven new data sets, including findings that help us better understand early signs of aging across different skin tones - for example, retinol to maintain smooth skin in younger adults and minoxidil cream to promote hair growth in men experiencing the first signs of alopecia. Additionally, other skin-related data being presented will include new evidence that a colloidal oat-based regimen including an emollient and a skin wash eases eczema in babies.

Forestalling the Signs of Aging: The Latest Insights

On the topic of early intervention to manage skin aging and hair loss, Kenvue will present the following abstracts:

  • Histological and Clinical Signs of Skin Pre-Aging Vary Across Fitzpatrick Skin Phototypes, conducted by Thomas Shyr, BS., Principal Scientist, Global Translational Science, Skin Health & Beauty, et al (Poster ID: P2670)

In evaluating skin types to assess the early signs of aging, researchers found that people with the lightest complexions (Fitzpatrick skin phototypes I and II) exhibit evidence of wrinkles, fine lines, sallowness and a loss of elasticity as early as their mid-20s, signaling an opportunity for the proactive use of appropriate skincare.

  • Combination of Retinol and Carnosine Addresses Pre-aging Insights and Delivers Preventative and Aging Treatment Benefits via Antioxidant, Anti-Glycation and Cellular Activity, conducted by Ramine Parsa, Ph.D., Research Manager, Global Upstream Preclinical Science Platform, Skin Health & Beauty, et al (Poster ID: 2690)

This study in 34 women found that skin cells in younger people are more vulnerable to UVA exposure but also more responsive to retinol treatment, demonstrating the need for proactive skin protection beginning in the 20s. It demonstrated that an enhanced retinol serum with antioxidant, anti-glycation agents and a soothing complex sparked significant clinical anti-aging benefits, particularly for people of younger ages and retinol beginners.

  • A solution for firming the aging neck. Over 16 weeks,a skin cream containing a novel, patented microdipeptide, bakuchiol and other brightening and firming active ingredients demonstrated statistically significant improvement in signs of aging in the neck and decolletage areas in women ages 47-65. (Poster ID: P2636)
  • Early Intervention of 5% Minoxidil Usage Yields Improved Hair Regrowth in Male Androgenetic Alopecia: The Effects of Age and Stage, conducted by Ramond Waide, PharmD, Associate Manager, Medical Science & Medical Information, Hair Regrowth & Skin Health, et al (Poster ID: P2084)

This study tested the effects of 5% minoxidil topical foam in men ranging in age from 20 to 50 years who had Type III, IV or V hair loss. While hair regrowth was statistically significant across all study age groups and hair loss types, improvement was more marked when intervention occurred at an earlier age and stage of hair loss.

  • Assessing the Effects of a Novel Sunscreen Formulation of Specific Chemical UV-Filters vs a Pure Mineral UV-Filter Sunscreen on Patients With Sensitive Skin Syndrome: A Comparative, Randomized, Split-Face Clinical Study on Tolerability and the Effect on Skin Barrier Integrity, conducted by Shirley Sampaio, Ph.D., Senior Scientist Clinical Strategy at Kenvue,et el(Poster ID: P2472)

Whilesunscreens with mineral UV filter active ingredients are often recommended for people with sensitive skin, a novel formulation utilizing chemical UV filters with high molecular weights, as well as increased melting points and lipophilicity, was found to be a good alternative in a 21-day split-face clinical evaluation.

Additional Skincare Findings

During EADV, Kenvue will also present two abstracts on the following skin-related topics:

  • An effective eczema regimen for children. The use ofa non-drying, gentle, oat-containing moisturizing wash and a 1% colloidal oatmeal moisturizing cream demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in eczema severity as soon as day 1 in children aged 3 months to 6 years. (Poster ID: P2806)
  • Umbrellas as a supplement to UV protection. Using electronic UV meters, investigators found that larger-diameter umbrellas made from synthetic fabric offered better protection from the sun's rays than smaller-diameter paper, cotton or lace umbrellas, but that effectiveness varied depending on the orientation of the umbrella and the sun. They concluded that umbrellas should be considered supplemental to more effective sun-protection measures, such as clothing and SPF. (Poster ID: P2933)
