How Is Zscaler Growing its Investment in the SEA Region?

While most economies globally have been grappling with macroeconomic headwinds, markets in Southeast Asia (SEA) have shown great resilience and demonstrated a strong growth momentum despite them.1 And the world is taking notice, with tech behemoths such as Amazon, Microsoft, Nvidia investing billions to grow their presence in these markets.2 With lack of legacy infrastructure to contend with in most SEA markets, more businesses and individuals in this region are shifting towards cloud-based solutions-leading to the inevitable surge in demand for advanced cybersecurity measures.

Indonesia is one such economy that is on the up-and-up in SEA, with over 270 million people and a steadily increasing number of internet users. This growth has inadvertently led to increasing demand from both the government and technology companies to ensure cybersecurity is ingrained into their products and services. Understanding this very demand of our expanding customer base here, we have recently launched a colocated data center in Indonesia that allows Zscaler to establish a local presence and cater to the specific needs of Indonesian businesses and organizations. With this launch, we are excited to deliver the following benefits to our customers locally:

  1. Enhanced network performance and reduced latency:
The location of a data center plays a crucial role in ensuring optimal network performance and reduced latency. By opening a colocated data center in Indonesia, Zscaler can offer improved network performance to local users. Proximity to the data center enables faster data transmission, resulting in reduced latency and enhanced user experience. This is a reflection of our commitment to delivering seamless cloud security services to Indonesian customers.
  2. Compliance with local data regulations:
Data sovereignty and compliance with local data regulations are important considerations for businesses operating in foreign markets. With this new colocated data center, Zscaler can address these concerns effectively, storing and processing data within the country's borders to ensure compliance with Indonesian data protection laws. This move not only demonstrates our commitment to regulatory compliance but also provides peace of mind to businesses and organizations in Indonesia.
  3. Strengthened cybersecurity infrastructure:
Indonesia, like many other countries, faces growing cybersecurity challenges. The increasing frequency and sophistication of cyberthreats require organizations to deploy robust security measures. This new colocated data center in Indonesia strengthens the country's cybersecurity infrastructure by offering the world's most deployed zero trust network access solution, Zscaler Private AccessTM (ZPATM). ZPA offers zero trust connectivity, by applying the principle of least privilege, to give users secure, direct connectivity to private applications running on-premises or in the public cloud. Enterprises can take full advantage of our ZPA solution to minimize attack surface, enforce least privileged access, eliminate lateral movement, inspect private app traffic for prevalent web attack vectors-all while delivering a frictionless user experience. To add a cherry on top for our local customers, ZPA can be deployed in a matter of hours to replace legacy VPNs and remote access tools.
  4. Simpler digital transformation:
Indonesia's digital transformation journey is gaining momentum, with various sectors embracing cloud-based solutions. The new colocated data center plays a pivotal role in facilitating this transformation. By offering secure and scalable cloud security services, we are able to empower Indonesian businesses to adopt cloud technologies confidently. This empowers organizations to leverage the benefits of digitalization while ensuring data privacy and protection.

As Zscaler continues to expand its global footprint, the opening of the new colocated data center in Indonesia marks a significant step towards securing the digital future of the nation. By tapping into Indonesia's growing digital landscape, we are excited to provide advanced cloud security solutions, enhance network performance, and strengthen the country's cybersecurity infrastructure.
