DGA Statement on Governor-Elect Josh Stein's Victory in North Carolina

Today, Democratic Governors Association Chair Kansas Governor Laura Kelly released the following statement on Governor-elect Josh Stein being elected the next governor of North Carolina:

"Congratulations to Governor-elect Josh Stein on being elected the next governor of North Carolina. Tonight, North Carolinians came together to reject an agenda of hatred and division to support Josh's positive vision to build a safer, stronger North Carolina.

"He built a broad coalition across party lines by running on his excellent record as attorney general that includes clearing the rape-kit backlog and addressing the fentanyl crisis, while also outlining plans to lower costs for the middle class, improve public education and stand up for our fundamental freedoms.

"The DGA is very proud of the early and major investments we made in North Carolina to help the Stein campaign cross the finish line in this top battleground race, growing our record of winning campaigns in challenging political environments. I look forward to working with Josh as he continues delivering for the people of North Carolina."

The DGA invested over $15 million in North Carolina this year, including funds that helped allow the Stein campaign to define Mark Robinson early by holding him accountable for his extreme plans to ban abortion in all cases. At the same time, America Works USA, a separate entity that is allied with the DGA, invested $15 million to tout Josh Stein's record as the state's top law enforcement official.
