Kawaii Kitty Art Contest

Cat fans of all ages are invited to submit their original artwork in the first-ever Kawaii Kitty Art Contest at the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library starting October 1-October 12, 2024. Children, teens and adults can submit artwork reflecting the Japanese word "kawaii" for "cute," "adorable" or "loveable." Prizes will be awarded to the top entries and winning artworks will be displayed in the Library and printed on bookmarks. Grand prize winners will be selected from each age group and announced at the Library's Hello Kitty Birthday Jubilee on Saturday, November 2 in the Friends Room at 3:30 p.m.

Kawaii Kitty Art Contest Guidelines

  • A completed entry form must be submitted with the artwork. Digital artworks can be submitted through the online form. Forms can be picked up from the Library starting October 1, 2024.
  • One entry per person
  • Submissions must be 8.5 by 11 inches, without mat or frame. Digital submissions must be 1550 pixels wide by 3300 pixels high, or 300 pixels per inch (PPI).
  • Artworks must be original and previously unpublished.
  • Any artwork found to infringe on copyright laws will be ineligible.
  • At the end of the submission period, the top entries will be selected by a panel of judges based on the criteria of artistry, cuteness, and execution of the theme.
  • Entries must be submitted by Saturday, October 12 at 6 p.m. Entries will not accepted after 6 p.m.

This 2024 Kawaii Kitty Art Contest is sponsored by the Monterey Park Library Foundation. Prizes generously donated by OneHouse Arts, Tail Town and Blick Art Materials.
