By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Family Court Awareness Month
WHEREAS, the children of Virginia deserve safe and loving environments where they can thrive and grow, shielded from harmful childhood trauma and domestic violence; and
WHEREAS, in Virginia, family law cases involving custody, support, and domestic violence are primarily handled by the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts; and
WHEREAS, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts throughout the Commonwealth prioritize child safety and act in the best interest of Virginia's children; and
WHEREAS, the mission of organizations like One Mom's Battle and the Family Court Awareness Month Committee is to educate communities on available empirical data and research, as this research is a critical component in continuing to develop policies that protect and prioritize the safety of our children; and
WHEREAS, policies that protect and prioritize our children ensure that young Virginians receive the care and resources vital to grow into prosperous and productive members of our communities; and
WHEREAS, Family Court Awareness Month is a time to increase awareness and advocate for abuse free environments in the Commonwealth of Virginia while honoring the hundreds of children who have been victims of violence by separating or divorcing parents; and
WHEREAS, citizens are encouraged to support their local communities' efforts to honor and value the lives of children while preventing the harm of children at the hands of family members;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize November 2024, as FAMILY COURT AWARENESS MONTH in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
