The Welsh Government has committed to establishing a Logistics & Freight Delivery Group following a meeting between the First Minister and RHA colleagues.

RHA Welsh Director Michael Gough and Director of Policy Declan Pang met with First Minister Eluned Morgan MS, and the Secretary of State for Wales Jo Stevens MP at the Welsh Labour Conference in Llandudno, North Wales yesterday.

The group discussed what the transport industry needs from the Welsh Government to thrive, including:

  • The significant impact of congestion in Wales and the need for road investment particularly the M4 and A55
  • The major shortage of lorry parking which needs to be urgently addressed
  • The barriers faced by the industry to decarbonisation.
  • The shortage of heavy vehicle mechanics courses, particularly for coach operators.

Following the meeting the Welsh Government committed to establishing a Logistics & Freight Delivery Group to help support hauliers in Wales. We look forward to working with Ministers in the months ahead.
