A hole in one – 2024 AIEC Golf Outing held

The Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives held its annual golf outing on Aug. 16 at Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo, which is located on Monroe County Electric Cooperative lines.

"Thank you to everyone who attended the social event and golf outing," said Jennifer Sours, the event organizer and AIEC's CFO. "Your dedication to making this event enjoyable is much appreciated by all in attendance."

While the main event was held Friday morning, the pre-golf social event, sponsored by Altec, GridLiance and Wesco, was held the night before at Hopskeller Brewing Company, with more than 60 vendors, cooperative employees, directors and spouses in attendance.

Friday morning, 127 co-op employees, directors, sponsors and friends set out for a day of golfing and networking. At the end of the day, the following teams were the flight winners:

  • 1st Flight - Darrin Atteberry, Jason Griffy and Evan Thackery (Wabash Communications) - Score 49
  • 2nd Flight - Jason Cherry (Brownstown Electric Supply), Brandon Jansen & Kevin Roflingsmeyer (City of Carlyle) and Brian Taylor (Clinton County Electric Cooperative) - Score 58
  • 3rd Flight - Mike Henry (AIEC - retired), Chriss Busse, Denny Mohrman and Kyle Stanton - Score 64

Special thanks to the following hole sponsors: CFC, Wesco, PurpleWave Auction, Priority Wire & Cable, Taylorville Community Credit Union, GridLiance, BHMG, UUS, Illinois' Electric Cooperatives PAC, Milwaukee Tool and CDG Engineers.

In addition to golf, the event also raised money for two important causes. Attendees raised $1,740 for the IEC Memorial Scholarship Fund and $958 for the Illinois Hurt Lineworkers' Fund.

"Thank you to Monroe County Electric Cooperative for co-hosting the outing this year and supplying everyone with a sleeve of golf balls; Keeley Construction for the extra drink tickets and golf balls; Wright Tree Service for being the golf ball sponsor; GridLiance, The Orion Companies and Wesco for being our beverage cart sponsors; all of our associate members; and the cooperative employees, directors, retirees, friends and vendors who committed to traveling to Waterloo and participating in the golf outing," Sours said.
