Citywide Drug Control Unit Arrested Suspected Drug Dealer in Dorchester

At about 2:38 PM, on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, members of the Citywide Drug Control with the assistance from members of the Youth Violence Strike Force, and officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester), arrested Santo Carvajal, 53, of Boston, on multiple drug charges.

Officers were conducting an ongoing drug investigation in the area of Uphams Corner. Officers were aware that an operator of a suspected vehicle was conducting street level drug transactions. Officers conducted surveillance of the motor vehicle and observed the operator to conduct multiple hand-to-hand transactions.

Officers observed the vehicle parked in the area of Jerome Street and Cushing Avenue. Officers observed the suspect approach a female individual and hand her a small plastic bag of a substance believed to be crack cocaine. The two individuals separated from each other, and officers were able to stop the female suspect in the area of 505 Columbia Road. Officers recovered a small plastic bag of crack cocaine and a small plastic bag of fentanyl. Officers advised the female suspect that she would be summonsed to court.

Officers maintained surveillance of the male suspect and observed him walking back to his vehicle. Officers approached the vehicle, and the male suspect immediately began to sprint from officers. A foot pursuit ensued, and officers were able to apprehend the suspect.

Officers searched the suspect's flight path and recovered a plastic bag of crack cocaine, and a plastic bag of fentanyl. Officers returned to the suspect's vehicle and recovered large plastic bags of crack cocaine and fentanyl. Officers also recovered $371 in US currency.

Carvajal was placed under arrest and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B, Distribution of Class A, and Distribution of Class B. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
