The community is being targeted by a scam where individuals are impersonating law enforcement officers. These scammers are calling and claiming that the recipient has outstanding warrants and demanding payment to resolve the issue.
PLEASE BE AWARE:
* The police will NEVER call you and demand money over the phone or ask for personal information.
* These calls are fraudulent and designed to scare you into paying money or sharing personal information.
* These calls appear to come from an Emeryville Police Department phone number but scammers utilize phone apps that make it appear so.
If you receive one of these calls:
1. Hang up immediately.
2. Do not engage or provide any personal information.
3. Report the incident to your local police department.
Remember: The police will never ask for payment to clear warrants or resolve any legal issues. If you are ever in doubt, always verify with your local law enforcement directly.
