Entering first-time freshman, transfer and online students can apply at no cost to the University of Alabama at Birmingham during "Free App Week," running from Oct. 7-11.

In an initiative that UAB hopes will provide increased access to prospective students who are seeking higher education, both in- and out-of-state students are eligible to submit applications with no associated fees during this week.

"By participating in Free App Week, we remove a financial barrier that may prevent students from even considering UAB in their college search," said Kathleen Stallings, executive director of Undergraduate Admissions at UAB. "We want to promote access in this way because an application is the first step to becoming a Blazer."

First-time freshman, transfer and online students who apply to UAB during Oct. 7-11 will have their application fee waived. No code or additional step is necessary. All applications must be started and submitted between Oct. 7 and Oct. 11 to qualify.

Current high school students can learn more about the university during UAB Day on Saturday, Oct. 19. This preview day is specifically for high school students and will feature a fair of academic departments and student services, academic breakout session, a campus tour, and more. Deadline to register is Oct. 14.

For prospective students interested in visiting UAB's campus, the university offers campus tours to see where Blazers learn, discover, study and relax. This can be done on a traditional walking campus tour or on a ride around campus on the Dragon Wagon. Click here to schedule a campus tour.
