PANGKALPINANG -- Selection for PT Timah's Pemali Boarding School Program at SMAN 1 Pemali for the 2024/2025 Academic Year has taken place. A total of 36 students from Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Riau Province, and Riau Islands Province were declared to have passed the selection.

The details of the students who passed the PT Timah scholarship class selection at SMAN 1 Pemali were 29 students from Bangka Belitung Islands Province, 4 students from Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province, and three students from Meranti Regency, Riau Province.

Previously, it was known that 211 students had registered for the PT Timah Scholarship Class New Student Admissions (PPDB) program at SMAN 1 Pemali for the 2024/2025 academic year.

In carrying out the selection, PT Timah collaborated with the Bangka Belitung Education Office and the Center for Psychological Innovation at Padjadjaran University.

The plan is that the handover process for students who have graduated will take place on Wednesday 10 July 2024. Students who are accepted into the PT Timah Scholarship Class program will attend education using a boarding system at the Pemali Dormitory.

PT Timah's Head of Corporate Communications, Anggi Siahaan, said that the selection process for the PPDB Pemali Boarding School Program ran smoothly and transparently.

"All selection processes have been carried out according to the specified schedule and the participants who have passed the selection have been announced. Later on the 10th, there will be a handover from parents to PT Timah for the children to take part in the learning process at SMAN 1 Pemali and also in the dormitory," said Anggi.

Anggi hopes that later students who have passed the selection will be able to take advantage of this opportunity to study well and develop themselves according to their abilities.

"The Scholarship class program is an effort by members of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding, PT Timah to improve the quality of human resources in the mining area and reduce school dropout rates," he said.

Where this program is intended for students who excel and are economically disadvantaged. So with this education, it is hoped that it will be able to improve the level of education and the family economy.

The PT Timah Tbk Scholarship Class Program, which started in 2000, has graduated 815 alumni who have been active in various fields.

One of the students who passed the selection, Lila Nur Syafira (15), a student from West Bangka, said she was grateful that she had finally passed after going through various series of selections.

Not without reason, he intended to graduate because he wanted to help the family financially. The condition of his father who had a stroke, his mother who had died and currently he could only rely on his older brother for the family economy made him determined to help his family.

"Lila wants to help the family financially. Her father no longer works, he has to go to the doctor every month, while her mother has died, the economy now only relies on her brother," he said sadly.

Since he learned information about the PT Timah scholarship class program from his seniors, he was determined to pass the selection.

"The school is good, an extraordinary place to seek knowledge, there are lots of extracurricular activities for self-development, increasing relationships with experts, trying to be independent outside of residence, and competing with students from various regions, united in a sense of kinship in the dormitory," said Students graduate from SMP 2 Jebus with enthusiasm.

Meanwhile, Junaidi (50), Lila Nur Syafira's parents, said they were grateful that their daughter had been accepted into the PT Timah scholarship class program.

"Alhamdulillah, I am grateful that my child was accepted at PT Timah's superior school, in my current condition I am sick. Thank you to PT Timah," he stammered. (*)
