Rider seriously injured in crash - Concord

The rider of a food delivery motor scooter has been seriously injured following a crash in Sydney's inner west.

About 7.05pm yesterday (Saturday 7 September 2024), a vehicle and the scooter were involved in a crash at the intersection of Burwood Road and Gipps Street, Concord. Following the impact, the vehicle - which had the scooter imbedded in the front of the car - then crashed into a power pole.

A police vehicle was at the location when the incident occurred, where further emergency services were summoned to the scene.

NSW Ambulance paramedics conveyed the 38-year-old male rider to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The driver - a 69-year-old man - was uninjured and taken to Concord Hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was secured and later examined by specialist police.

Inquires have established that the scooter had allegedly been stolen from Burwood Road, Burwood, a short time earlier.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command have commenced an investigation into the incident.
