BJC HealthCare Becomes 56^th Mosaic Ambassador Company and Kicks off the Region's Annual Welcoming Week with a Breakfast to Celebrate International Nurses and Staff

LOUIS, MO - Sept. 17, 2024 - BJC HealthCare, one of the largest nonprofit health care integrated delivery organizations in the country, has been named St. Louis Mosaic Project's 56th Mosaic Ambassador Company. This recognition is a testament to BJC HealthCare's continuous efforts to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace by hiring foreign workers with a range of clinical specialties.

In the last few years, BJC HealthCare has hired more than 100 international staff, including nurses and professionals in other clinical areas. To celebrate and welcome these important frontline workers, BJC HealthCare hosted a private Welcome Breakfast on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, in the Detrick Building Atrium at Christian Hospital. County Executive Sam Page and Dir. of the Office of New Americans in the City of St. Louis' Mayor's Office, Gilberto Pinela, are expected to attend and address the group. This event is not open to the public.

The event coincides with the start of Welcoming Week (Sept. 13-20), an annual national campaign organized by Welcoming America, a global nonprofit leading a movement of inclusive communities becoming more prosperous by ensuring everyone belongs, including immigrants (the St. Louis Mosaic Project is a member). The purpose of the week is to highlight what communities around the country do to be more welcoming for all, including immigrants. "Celebrating our international staff members is such an honor," said Jackie Tischler, BJC HealthCare's chief people officer. "We work hard to foster an environment of belonging and inclusion where everyone feels valued and can be their best."

As a Mosaic Ambassador Company, BJC HealthCare commits to valuing and maintaining an internationally welcoming work environment. The company plans to engage the Mosaic Project's foreign-born community for recruitment opportunities to expand its talent pool.

It will also continue to support the growing international community in St. Louis by providing diversity and inclusion training, celebrating multicultural events/holidays, and having resource groups for these diverse associate groups.

Additionally, BJC HealthCare will spread awareness of the St. Louis Mosaic Project by hosting an event for international employees and their spouses to learn more about Mosaic's Professional Connector program, International Spouse Program, and International Mentoring Program.
