CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Franklin County Commissioners proudly presented the October 2024 Employee of the Month award to Elaine Rotz during the board's Oct. 30 public meeting. Rotz has been employed by Franklin County since November 2018 and serves as a senior center coordinator with the Franklin County Area Agency on Aging.

October's Employee of the Month recipient was determined by the Special Thanks and Recognition (STAR) Committee, which received seven nominations for the October award, one of which was for Rotz.

"Elaine's commitment to senior center participants is unmatched," said the nomination. "Elaine shows a strong commitment to providing individual time and attention to each and every participant that walks through her doors daily. Elaine's extensive background in aging programs, services and community resources benefits the senior center participants throughout the Tuscarora Senior Center. She is famous for providing undivided attention to each and every senior center participant. She treats each participant with empathy, dignity and respect."

The nomination continued, "Additionally, Elaine handles difficult and challenging situations with patience, grace and professionalism. She first attempts to problem solve each situation in her center using her expertise. However, she reaches out to county departments and for resources when needed. Elaine regularly gets tasks with little background or heads up, and she jumps in with both feet. I have seen her quick thinking and prompt actions help on various projects or prevent potential mishaps. She does so much in the background to help the county run smoothly, and I don't think people realize how much she does or is involved in."

"Elaine is seen as a mentor by several of her coworkers within the senior center team," said the nomination form. "Elaine shows a strong commitment to mentoring by maintaining a strong relationship with each mentee, thus those coworkers feel they can reach out to Elaine at any time. They know she will drop whatever she is doing to help assist them.

"In October, the Tuscarora Senior Center celebrated 25 years in its current location. To celebrate this milestone, Elaine planned an open house," explained the nominating coworker. "It is evident that the success of the Tuscarora Senior Center stems from Elaine's dedication and commitment to quality services. Not only has the center grown in participants, it also maintains an extremely large volunteer base, which ensures the senior center and home-delivered meal program runs smoothly. Elaine is an exemplary employee within our senior centers, the aging department and Franklin County!"

Rotz's outstanding characteristics are attributes that have not gone unnoticed by her peers. She exudes a high standard of patience, empathy and a commitment to quality of service to each participant and resident of Franklin County.

The Franklin County Commissioners congratulated Rotz on her recognition and thanked her for her excellent work and for exuding such a high standard of knowledge, leadership and excellence to the employees and residents of Franklin County.
