Today, Administrator Samantha Power spoke with the newly elected President of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Administrator Power congratulated President Dissanayake on assuming office and highlighted USAID's strong and longstanding commitment to development partnership with the people of Sri Lanka. She highlighted USAID's support for Sri Lanka's economic recovery and stabilization following the 2022 crisis, as well as its support for Sri Lankans working to improve governance and reduce corruption. Administrator Power and President Dissanayake underscored the importance of pairing the implementation of strong anti-corruption measures with sustained and inclusive economic growth.
