The pros and cons of going boat landing-less

One proposed way of doing so, from a monopile supplier point of view, is the removal of the boat landing, which streamlines production and reduces costs, especially when going TP-less. To initiate discussion and to identify the pros and cons of going boat landing-less, this whitepaper was initiated by Sif. To acquire a balanced view, ROER renewables was contracted to independently interview 16 key-stakeholders.

According to them, omitting the boat landing has a clear potential to reduce the overall CAPEX of a wind farm as well as improve safety by using available alternative access systems. Boat landing-less is therefore deemed "here to stay" although in the short term, offshore wind projects with and without boat landings will co-exist for a while.
