Bukit Asam (PTBA) Coal Production Exceeds the 2023 Target, Reaching 41.9 Million Tons

PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) was successful in enhancing its operating performance throughout 2023. PTBA's total coal production between January-December 2023 reached 41.9 million tons, an increase of 13 percent compared to 37.1 million tons produced in 2022.

This production achievement surpassed the 41 million tons production target that was established at the beginning of 2023.

The positive production performance was supported by the contribution of mining service contractors and PTBA's subsidiary (PT SBS) amounting to 37.7 million tons. PTBA's self-managed production accounted for the remaining 4.2 million tons.

This increase in production corresponded with the increase in coal sales volume to 37.0 million tons. The company recorded export sales of 15.6 million tons or an increase of 25 percent compared to 2022. Meanwhile, domestic sales were recorded at 21.4 million tons or increased 12 percent annually (year on year).

"The company continues to strive to optimize operational performance. We will maximize domestic market potential as well as export opportunities to a number of countries with promising growth prospects, encompassing both existing markets and new markets," said Corporate Secretary of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), Niko Chandra.

PTBA's export market in 2023 grew increasingly diverse. Several new markets had been recorded to be effectively optimized, including Vietnam, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam and Bangladesh.

Strategic projects continue to be implemented to support company performance, including the Sumsel-8 Mine Mouth PLTU (2x621.72 MW) which has been commercially operational since October 7, 2023, and the development of coal transportation on the Tanjung Enim - Keramasan link which will increase coal capacity to 20 million tons per year.
