City of Akron Offices Closed Monday September 2 in Observance of Labor Day

Akron, Ohio, August 27, 2024 - All municipal offices will be closed on Monday, September 2 in observance of Labor Day. There will be no curb service on Monday. There will be a one-day delay of trash/recycle collections for the remainder of the week, with curb service resuming on Tuesday, September 3 and continuing through Saturday, September 7.

"Every day, Akron workers uplift our community by making us safer and stronger," said Akron Mayor Shammas Malik. "Labor Day provides us the opportunity to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers both here in Akron and across the country."

Akron Pizza Fest returns to the City of Akron's Lock 3 this weekend on Friday, August 30 and Saturday, August 31. Friday's schedule will include Zoso: The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience featuring Neil Zaza kicking off at 7pm. Saturday will feature pizza judging, a cornhole tournament, a pizza eating contest at 6pm, live music from Country Redford at 6:30pm and Whisky Bound at 8:30pm. The festival is free to attend, and vendors will have pizza by the slice and whole pies for sale.

Additionally, the City of Akron is hosting the second annual Akron City Festival on Sunday, September 1st from 12pm-6pm in Cascade Plaza. Residents can expect a family-friendly atmosphere as the city celebrates Akron's youth as they start a new school year. The festival will include a parade at 1pm down Main St., live DJ, games, basketball, face painting, fashion show, cheer show, magic show, food vendors, gaming trucks, inflatables, and more!
