GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The City of Grand Rapids has received the Government Finance Officers Association's (GFOA) Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR Award). It is the first time the City achieved this honor for its Resident's Guide to the City's Finances.

The award represents a significant achievement by the City's Comptroller's Department. To be eligible for the PAFR Award, a government must also submit its annual comprehensive financial report to GFOA's Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program and receive the Certificate for the current fiscal year. GFOA judges evaluate each eligible report based on the following categories: reader appeal, understandability, distribution methods, creativity and other elements.

City Comptroller Max Frantz said, "We are thrilled to see the City of Grand Rapids earn this award for Excellence in Financial Reporting and be recognized for the Comptroller team's effort and innovations in making the Resident's Guide to the City's Finances concise, informative and appealing to read."

The GFOA advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities it serves.
