At about 4:12 AM, on Saturday, October 19, 2024, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Lexus Meade, 29, of Roxbury, and Claudio Lopes, 28, of Lynn, on firearm charges.

Officers responded to the area of 57 Burrell Street for a report of a Shot Spotter activation and multiple 911 calls for shots fired. Upon arrival, officers observed ballistic damage to two buildings, and recovered ballistic evidence on scene. Officers conducted protective sweeps of the apartments, and did not locate any injured parties.

Officers began to search the area for suspects, and observed two individuals crouching down near a dumpster in the rear of 570 Dudley Street. Officers exited their cruiser, and one of the suspects began to walk towards them. As officers were speaking with one of the suspects, they observed a second suspect run from behind the dumpster, back towards Dudley Street.

Officers observed the suspect attempting to hide behind a vehicle. As officers approached the suspect, he began to walk away from them at a fast pace. Officers requested the suspect to stop multiple times, which he refused.

Officers were able to catch up to the suspect, who then began to violently resist. Officers were able to place the suspect into handcuffs, and began to canvass his flight path. Officers were able to locate two firearms near the dumpster where the suspects first attempted to hide.

The firearms were later determined to be a Rockledge 38 Special with five spent shell casings in the cylinder and a Smith and Wesson SD9 VE with an unloaded sixteen round magazine.

Both suspects were placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. Lopes was additionally charged with Resisting Arrest. Both are expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
