Suspect Arrest Following a Shooting in Roxbury

At about 11:30 AM, on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Alexander Delarosa, 48, of Boston, on firearm charges.

Officers responded to the area of 10 Roxbury Street for a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers began to canvass the area for a victim and a suspect. Detectives were able to observed on surveillance footage that a male victim walked towards the area of Malcolm X Boulevard. Officers were later advised by Boston Police Operations that the victim self-applied to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives were able to view surveillance footage and disseminated a picture of the suspect involved in the shooting. A detective observe an individual matching the suspect's description in the area of Centre Street and Estrella Street.

The suspect observed the detective and attempted to conceal himself behind a vehicle while placing his hand into his pocket. Responding officers arrived on scene and the suspect began to approach officers with his hand still in his pocket. Officers gave the suspect multiple verbal commands to show his hands which he continued to refuse.

Officers were able to quickly detain the suspect and placed him into handcuffs. Officers searched the suspect and recovered a firearm from his left side sweater pocket. The firearm was later determined to be a Regent firearm, containing three rounds and one spent shell casing inside the cylinder.

Delarosa was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
