An investigation is underway after four people were injured - and a driver allegedly returned a positive roadside breath test - following a crash at Seven Hills overnight.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Abbott Road and Monaro Street about 11.15pm (Saturday 14 July 2024), after a white Nissan Micra hatchback and silver MG SUV collided.

A 24-year-old man, who was a passenger in the hatchback, and a 30-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the SUV, were trapped by confinement with each vehicle for almost 30 minutes before they were released.

They were taken to Westmead Hospital suffering multiple fractures. Police have been told they are in a stable condition.

The 21-year-old woman, driving the hatchback, and a 60-year-old man, driving the SUV, suffered minor injuries, and were also taken to Westmead Hospital to be checked as a precaution.

Officers from Riverstone Police Area Command established a crime scene which has now been examined by specialist police attached to the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU).

Investigators are waiting on the outcome of further testing after the younger woman driving the hatchback returned a positive roadside breath test.

Police are appealing for anyone with relevant information or dashcam vision to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Inquiries are continuing.
