Party General Secretary and President: people are the center in realizing visions

(MPI) - Party General Secretary and State President To Lam delivered a speech at the General Debate of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on September 24 (local time). The event's theme is "Leaving no one behind: Acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development and humanity for today and future generations".

In his speech, Party General Secretary and President To Lam said that the world is undergoing transformative changes of historic significance. Although peace, cooperation and development remain dominant trends, it is facing many new and more serious challenges. Strategic confliction between major countries are becoming boarder; the rise of power politics and egoistic nationalism are challenging international law; non-traditional security challenges are hindering efforts for human developments.

Therefore, Party General Secretary and President To Lam called for unity, joint actions, joint efforts and close coordination among all nations, upholding the role of international institutions, particularly among the UN and regional organisations like ASEAN, to achieve to ultimate goals of ending wars, abolishing all forms of oppression, exploitation, building peace and creating a better world to bring happiness to all humankind.

The leader shared Vietnam's vision for a more peaceful, stable, cooperative, prosperous and sustainable for all people, stressing that peace and stability are the foundation of a prosperous future; all states, particularly the major powers, must promote the observance of international law and the UN Charter.

He highlighted the importance of ensuring equitable development for each community, community and individual. Every resource must be effectively unleashed, marshalled, and utilized for development according to each country's needs. Priority resources must be given to sector implementing sustainable development goals (SDGs), with a focus on developing and less-developed countries through preferential loans, transfer of advanced technologies, investment and trade facilitation, and debt relief for poor countries.

The Vietnamese leader called for soon creating a smart global governance frameworks with long-term vision for science and technology, particularly emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI). This will foster the progress and enjoy the benefits, while actively preventing and repelling threats to peace, sustainable development and humanity.

It is also important to adopt innovative thinking to build a transformative future across all areas, focusing on digital transformation, green transition, and global governance transformation. Green transition and digital transformation are essential tools for countries, especially developing ones, to build resilience and self-reliance, enabling a timely and active prevention of and response to shocks, crises and potential disasters.

Party General Secretary and President To Lam stated that people should be put as the center in realizing visions; people are the center, objective and driver for all policies and actions at all levels. It is essential to invest in and comprehensively develop the youth with their knowledge and culture, grounded in shared values and a sense of responsibility and dedication.

Stressing that in today's rapidly changing world, each nation plays a vital role in the grand orchestration of the era, he affirmed that Vietnam is making every effort to move forward toward a future of peace, stability, prosperity and sustainability, not only for Vietnamese people but also for all nations worldwide. This is the country's vision, goal and strong commitment to the international community, today and tomorrow./.
