Tips for a Successful Child Support Application
Applying for child support? Following these steps will help the process go more quickly and avoid delays.
Provide as much information as possible about the other parent! Case managers will do as much as they can to fill in the gaps, but whatever you can provide will help. This may include, for example, their last known address and their employer information.
Provide the supporting documentation when asked! Having to get those items separately may make the process longer.
Having documentation such as a birth certificate or a court order for child support will go a long way to assist with the child support process. Copies of any existing paternity or support orders, adoption documents, marriage licenses, and/or divorce decrees will also help.
Make sure to sign and date your application! You can now do a digital signature on our portal, so you don't have to worry about mailing, printing, and scanning your signature.
