WASHINGTON, D.C. - Pat Jones, Executive Director and CEO of the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA), today issued a statement congratulating Emanuela Stocchi on her recent election as President of PIARC, The World Road Association. Stocchi's term will begin on January 1, 2025. Her decades-long commitment to the tolling and roadway industries, and her remarkable leadership on a global scale, make her the ideal person to guide PIARC as it continues to shape the future of roadway safety, sustainability, and innovation.

"Emanuela Stocchi is a true visionary and a highly respected leader within our industry. Her election as President of PIARC is a testament to her tireless dedication to advancing safe, efficient, and sustainable roadway systems around the world," said Jones. "Her deep expertise, collaborative spirit, and passion for public service make her exactly the right person to lead PIARC at this critical juncture. I am confident that under her leadership, PIARC will make great strides on global transportation issues, particularly in areas like road safety, climate resilience, and technological innovation."

Stocchi served as President of IBTTA in 2017, leaving a legacy within the association through her dedication to excellence and collaboration. Her work on the IBTTA board of directors and multiple committees, where she offered thoughtful leadership and guidance, has driven significant advancements in tolling practices and safety initiatives.

Today, in addition to her role with PIARC, she serves as Director of International Affairs and Acting Executive Director of AISCAT, the Italian Association of Toll Motorways and Tunnels Operators, where she leads efforts to enhance Italy's tolling systems and improve roadway infrastructure. Her involvement also extends to ASECAP, the European Association of Operators of Toll Road Infrastructures, where she has been instrumental in advancing interoperability, sustainability, and efficiency within Europe's toll road network.

Stocchi's dedication to promoting safety on roadways around the world is reflected in her leadership and active participation in various international initiatives aimed at reducing roadway fatalities and creating safer environments for all road users. Her collaborative spirit, coupled with her in-depth knowledge of tolling and roadway management, will be invaluable as she takes on this new role.

Jones also took a moment to recognize and thank Nazir Alli, the outgoing PIARC President, for his dedicated service and remarkable contributions to the organization. "Nazir has provided PIARC with steady, insightful leadership, and we are deeply grateful for his commitment to advancing roadway infrastructure and safety worldwide. His tenure has set a high standard, and we appreciate his tireless work on behalf of the global road community."

"On behalf of the entire IBTTA community, we congratulate Emanuela on this remarkable achievement and look forward to seeing all she will accomplish as President of PIARC," Jones said.
