Manchin Announces $36.7 Million for Three West Virginia Transportation Projects

Charleston, WV - Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $36,745,450 from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for three West Virginia transportation projects. The funding is made possible through the DOT's Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant program.

"These monumental investments in West Virginia's infrastructure will create new economic opportunities and enhance the quality of life for residents across the state," said Senator Manchin. "I am proud to have advocated heavily for these initiatives, especially the Capital Connector in Charleston, and I look forward to seeing their positive impacts for decades to come. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue working with federal, state and local officials to keep West Virginia moving forward."

In November 2021, Senator Manchin joined Charleston Mayor Amy Goodwin to announce a $1.75 million DOT RAISE planning grant for the Capital Connector project. Senator Manchin also called DOT Secretary Pete Buttigieg to advocate for the project, which will upgrade and improve the Kanawha Boulevard corridor and Greenbrier Street gateway and make the city safer and more accessible for bikers, walkers, joggers and riders.
