Beams to be set on Strickler Road bridge spanning westbound lanes of Route 283 the weekend of August 9-12

Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) reminds travelers that a weekend closure is planned for westbound Route 283 so beams can be set on the Strickler Road (Route 4045) bridge spanning the westbound lanes of the highway in Rapho Township, Lancaster County. The bridge was closed to traffic last October due to a vehicle strike.

Weather permitting, westbound Route 283 will be closed from 8:00 PM Friday, August 9, until 6:00 AM Monday, August 12. A rain date is set for the following weekend, 8:00 PM Friday, August 16, to 6:00 AM Monday, August 19.

Motorists traveling westbound in Route 283 should exit at the Mount Joy/Route 230 Exit, then take Route 230 west through Mount Joy Borough to Cloverleaf Road, then turn right and proceed to the Cloverleaf Road Interchange and westbound Route 283.

A detour currently is in place for Strickler Road using Route 772 (Mount Joy Road), Breneman Road and Zink Road.

Ryland Construction Company, Inc., of Mount Wolf, is the contractor on this $652,696 project.

All work is expected to be completed by October 11, 2024.
