Horizon Bank Awards Minority Scholarships to Students Through the Urban League of NWI

Michigan City, Indiana - The Horizon Bank Minority Scholarship Program awarded eleven $1,000 scholarships to students through the Urban League of Northwest Indiana.

Recipients of the Horizon Bank Scholarships included: Jessi Nicole Nance, Para McIntosh, Juanita Pointer, Alyse Thomas, Autumn Williams, Alexis Brewer, Arius Williams, Samuel Coleman, Amay Norman, Tyler Outlaw Bradley, and Janila Hendley-Crayton.

"We are honored to contribute to the educational journeys of these remarkable students through the Horizon Bank Minority Scholarship Program," said John Freyek, Market President of Lake County, "Partnering with the Urban League of Northwest Indiana allows us to empower the next generation and reinforce our commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in our community."

Horizon's Diversity Business Council developed the Minority Scholarship Program to encourage minority students to pursue higher educations. The scholarships awarded were based on academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, and potential. The application process was administered through a partnership with the Urban League of NWI Inc., along with community leaders who chose the recipients based upon scoring of set criteria.
