2024 25 Musical Arts Series calendar kicks off with Duo Mihai Zoeter on September 3

The 2024-25 performance calendar for the Musical Arts Series at Southeastern Oklahoma State University has been set, with four concerts slated.

The 52nd Season of the Musical Arts Series is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, Oklahoma Arts Council, Steger Piano Institute, and the Clark and Wanda Bass Foundation. With the Fine Arts Building on campus under renovation, please note the location for each of the four concerts. Admission is free of charge for all Musical Arts Series events.

2024-25 Musical Arts Series Calendar (all performances at 7:30 p.m.)

  • Tuesday, September 3: Duo Mihai-Zoeter in Student Union Auditorium
  • Tuesday, November 12: Clarus String Quartet in Student Union Auditorium
  • Tuesday, January 21: Sangmi Lim and Dino Mulić Piano Duo in Student Union Auditorium
  • Saturday, April 12: King Cabbage Brass Band in Hallie McKinney Ballroom

The calendar opens on September 3 with the duo of soprano Mariana Mihai-Zoeter and clarinetist Garrick Zoeter, accompanied by Dr. Sunbeam Choi on piano.

Renowned soprano Dr. Mariana Mihai-Zoeter, hailed for her "uncommonly beautiful presence" and emotionally evocative performances, is a celebrated artist and educator. Born in Braila, Romania, Dr. Mihai-Zoeter began her musical journey with voice lessons from Mariana Iordache and has since garnered acclaim worldwide. She graduated with honors from the School of Arts in Braila and later earned her degrees from Bucharest University of Music and Shenandoah Conservatory. Her teaching credentials include certifications in Contemporary Commercial Music and Vocal Pedagogy from esteemed institutions.

Dr. Mihai-Zoeter's illustrious career spans performances in major venues across Europe and the Americas, collaborating with renowned artists and conductors. Her repertoire includes diverse genres from renaissance to contemporary music. Notable performances include appearances with the "George Enescu" Philharmonic and the Teatro Amazonas. Recognized for her dedication to teaching, she won the 2016 Outstanding Faculty Award at Frostburg State University and has received accolades for her artistic contributions, including a medal of excellence from her hometown of Braila.

Clarinetist Garrick Zoeter, celebrated for his remarkable technique and artistry, has received international acclaim for his performances. Described as "remarkable" and "technically superb" by The Clarinet and The Washington Post, Zoeter's career highlights include solo performances with the National Symphony Orchestra and numerous awards in international competitions. As a founding member of the acclaimed Antares quartet, he has performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center, commissioning over 20 new works from top composers.

Both artists are committed educators. Dr. Mihai-Zoeter has taught at institutions including the State University of Amazonas and Frostburg State University, while Mr. Zoeter serves as the Anna Lee Van Buren Professor of Clarinet at Shenandoah Conservatory, shaping the next generation of musicians.

Together, Dr. Mihai-Zoeter and Mr. Zoeter continue to inspire audiences and students with their exceptional talent and dedication to the arts.
