Mayor Ed Gainey and the Urban Redevelopment Authority Announce City of Pittsburgh Awarded a Total of $62.2 Million in RACP and LSA Funds

This new round of awards is the latest achieved under the leadership of Mayor Ed Gainey, following continued advocacy with his colleagues at the state level to advance funding for local projects. The URA serves as the eligible pass-through agency for these grants.

"I am incredibly grateful to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for awarding these funds to support various community development projects. We've seen major investments pour into the development of Downtown Pittsburgh, but we remain equally as committed to securing resources that support the improvement of infrastructure, create new opportunities for economic growth, and enhance the quality of life in all 90 neighborhoods. The progress we are seeing across the city is truly a testament to the power of partnerships, and I am thankful that we continue to move closer to our vision of creating more vibrant communities across the city," said Mayor Ed Gainey.

The awarded RACP funds will help move forward several projects in neighborhoods across the city. In Squirrel Hill, the Tree of Life Synagogue was among those to receive funding in the amount of $4,000,000 for phase two of construction. On the city's North Side, the North Charles Street community was awarded $500,000 for the Affordable Homeownership program. RACP awards continue to serve as a critical means of advancing initiatives, including renovation of public facilities, expansion of infrastructure projects, and development of beloved community spaces.

• African American Cultural Center HVAC Equipment Repair and Upgrades - $500,000

• Oakland Crossings - Urban Center Mixed Use District (UC-MU) - $6,000,000

• Allegheny YMCA Renovation - $1,500,000

• 933 Penn Ave Redevelopment - $2,500,000

• City Club Apartments Pittsburgh II - $3,500,000

• Highmark Stadium Expansion - $3,000,000

• Horace Mann Village II - $500,000

Several projects and organizations will also receive Local Share Account funding awards. City Park Rangers will receive $80,000 for new vehicles, and over in the Hill District the New Granada Square will receive $500,000.
