The conclusion of the cross-border cooperation project "Joint Response" was marked in Nikšić. During the event, the project's results were presented, including the equipment and vehicles procured for the protection and rescue services through this project. Nemanja Vuković, President of the Nikšić Municipal Assembly, Goran Tripković, Commander of the Protection and Rescue Service Department in Nikšić, Alisa Gekić, Director of the Association for Entrepreneurship and Business LiNK from Mostar, and Veselin Šturanović, Executive Director of FORS Montenegro, addressed the media.

During the event, the main results of the project were highlighted, including the organisation of multiple training sessions, field exercises for rescuers, and informational events that contributed to strengthening the capacity to respond to various types of disasters, as well as raising the public awareness about the biggest risks, preventive measures, and activities that should be undertaken in case of certain disasters.

Through the project, equipment and resources worth €134,275 excluding VAT were procured for the protection and rescue services of the municipalities of Nikšić, Pljevlja, Žabljak, Šavnik, Plužine, Danilovgrad, Kolašin, and Mojkovac, as well as for the Mountain Rescue Service of Montenegro and PSD "Javorak" from Nikšić.

The procured equipment and resources include fire protection and rescue equipment, diving equipment, communication equipment, equipment for high-altitude and depth rescues, and a command vehicle for the Protection and Rescue Service in Nikšić. For the first time, protection and rescue services from five municipalities in Montenegro: Pljevlja, Žabljak, Šavnik, Mojkovac, and Kolašin received the necessary communication equipment, thus, becoming part of the TETRA communication system used only by specialised rescue services.

The special value of this project lies in the cross-border cooperation between people and institutions from Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina involved in protection and rescue operations. The project included a series of joint activities that enabled the strengthening of cooperation and the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and lessons learned in this field.

The "Joint Response" project was funded by the European Union through the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Bosnia and Herzegovina - Montenegro, and co-funded by the Ministry of Public Administration in Montenegro. The total project value was over €590,000, of which the European Union provided about €490,000 in grants. The project's value for Montenegro was around €255,000, with the European Union contributing the €213,000.

The project in Montenegro was implemented by FORS Montenegro in partnership with the Civil Protection and Fire Department of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, which was the lead partner in the project, and the Association for Entrepreneurship and Business LiNK Mostar.
