In response to JD Vance's disastrous interviews this morning, DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement:
"JD Vance once again showed America that he is not ready for primetime - or even Sunday mornings. In Vance's trainwreck trio of interviews, he doubled down on his ties to his 'friend' running Project 2025, pushed the Trump-Vance ticket's anti-choice extremism, defended his weird insults of millions of Americans, and even tried to provide cover for Donald Trump dining with a white supremacist. Vance was already the most unpopular VP pick in decades, and he did himself no favors today by doubling down on an extreme, out-of-touch MAGA agenda that is a proven loser at the ballot box."
Here are some of JD Vance's lowlights from this morning:
On CNN:
-
Called Project 2025 chief architect Kevin Roberts "a friend of mine"
-
Did not say if he and Trump would protect access to medication abortion, echoing Project 2025's plan to ban abortion nationwide without Congress
-
Lied about how Trump's anti-choice agenda is preventing women with nonviable pregnancies like Kate Cox from accessing medical care
-
Said he agreed with Trump's call to end the independence of the Federal Reserve
-
Said Trump is not attacking Vice President Harris' racial identity and refused to acknowledge that the vice president is Black
On ABC:
-
Said he never compared abortion to slavery (he did)
-
Bragged about campaigning against Ohio's referendum to protect access to abortion
-
Encouraged Trump to oppose Florida's upcoming ballot measure to guarantee abortion access
-
Defended Trump's infamous dinner with white nationalist and antisemite Nick Fuentes
-
Tried and failed to explain why he wants Americans without children to have less voting rights
-
Echoed Project 2025 by vowing to help Trump carry out cruel and reckless mass deportations
-
Said Trump is confident in his abilities after Trump refused to answer if Vance would be ready to lead on day one
On CBS:
-
Did not rule out enacting Project 2025's plan to use the Comstock Act to ban medication abortion nationwide (Vance has pushed the DOJ to do just that)
-
Said he and Trump would allow states to ban medication abortion
-
Said "there's nothing wrong with" Trump's never-ending praise for our adversaries and dictators like Putin
-
Again tried to downplay Trump's dinner with Fuentes
-
Pretended to support legislation to help children and families despite recently skipping a Senate vote on expanding the child tax credit
