ARUP Medical Directors To Present on Emerging Immunology Topics at the 2024 AMLI Annual Meeting

At the upcoming 2024 Association of Medical Laboratory Immunologists (AMLI) Annual Meeting, ARUP medical directors will present the latest developments in immunopathology, including emerging topics such as how artificial intelligence can be implemented in laboratory medicine.

The conference will be held in Nashville, Tennessee, from August 16 to 19, 2024.

David Ng, MD, will describe practical considerations and strategies for implementing artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in a clinical setting during his presentation, "Bringing AI to the Flow Cytometry Laboratory, for Fun and Profit."

Nicholas Spies, MD, medical director of Research and Innovation (R&I) and Clinical Chemistry, will also address AI in his presentation, "Addressing Preanalytical Error in the Age of Artificial Intelligence." Spies will provide recommendations on how to manage machine-learning tools and continuously assess performance to maintain quality standards.

In "Challenges Associated With Measuring Anti-Neuronal Abs," Tammy Smith, MD, PhD, clinical consultant of Autoimmune Neurology, will discuss how to navigate test ordering as the field grows in complexity and as the number of antineuronal antibodies available for testing continues to increase.

In her session, "Infectious Diseases in the Transplant Population," Kimberly Hanson, MD, MHS, medical director of Mycology, will provide an update on serological screening recommendations for pretransplant endemic infections. She will also discuss advances in pathogen-based diagnostics.

Patricia Slev, PhD, D(ABCC), medical director of Immunology, will present viral hepatitis cases with unusual findings during her session, "Common and Uncommon Viral Hepatitis in Real Life."

Refer to the information below for the full schedule.
